The Wizards came up short on Friday against the Nets, dropping their fourth-straight game.

The Washington Wizards suffered a heart-breaking 115-113 loss on Friday to the Brooklyn Nets. Joe Johnson made an 18-foot jumper with 0.7 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to break up the tied game. Washington has now lost four-consecutive games, and 12 of its last 13.

Despite the loss, the Wizards had strong performances from Bradley Beal (24 points, six rebounds), Jordan Crawford (23 points, six rebounds), and Nene Hilario (20 points, six rebounds). Brooklyn was led by Brook Lopez (27 points, 23 rebounds), Deron Williams (24 points, 10 assists), and Joe Johnson (18 points).

The Hokies will look to avenge last season's loss to BYU when they visit the Cougars on Saturday.

The Virginia Tech Hokies return to action on Saturday when they visit the Brigham Young Cougars. Virginia Tech (9-3) started the season with seven consecutive victories, but has since dropped three of its last five games. BYU (9-4) has won four of five, including a convincing 84-54 win over Northern Arizona on Thursday.

Virginia Tech has struggled outside of Blacksburg this year. The Hokies are just 2-2 in road games. BYU, meanwhile, is a perfect 7-0 at home so far. Still, Saturday's game is not a "true" home game, as the Cougars will compete at the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City for the second time this season.

These teams met last season in Virginia for the first time since 1967. After a back-and-forth second half, BYU pulled out a 70-68 win.

Virginia Tech's squad has not changed much from last season. The Hokies continue to rely on strong guards for most of their scoring. Erick Green (25.4 PPG), Jarell Eddie (14.7 PPG) and Robert Brown (10.4 PPG) lead the team this season.

Brigham Young does not have forward Noah Hartsock, who averaged 16.8 points as a senior last season. The Cougars are led by Brandon Davies (20.3 PPG) and Tyler Haws (19.3 PPG).

The Redskins could be without offensive lineman Tyler Polumbus for the second straight week.

Washington Redskins offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus was able to practice on Thursday in a limited capacity, and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Polumbus is recovering from a concussion that he suffered in Week 15. He was forced to sit out last week against the Philadelphia Eagles due to lingering symptoms. Polumbus practiced last week, but was never cleared by a neurologist to play.

Safety DeJon Gomes is recovering from a knee injury, and is also listed as questionable. Gomes partially tore his MCL last week against the Eagles. The tear is not considered serious, and he could play as early as this week.

The Redskins have a handful of players listed as probable, all of whom are expected to play on Sunday: linebacker London Fletcher (ankle), linebacker Lorenzo Alexander (shoulder), defensive end Stephen Bowen (biceps), wide receiver Pierre Garcon (foot), quarterback Robert Griffin III (knee), linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (ankle), center Will Montgomery (knee), wide receiver Josh Morgan (hand), left tackle Trent Williams (thigh), cornerback Josh Wilson (shoulder). Besides Fletcher, all of the probables were full participants in Thursday's practice.

The Wizards' struggles continued in a 32-point loss to the Pistons on Friday night.

The Washington Wizards have dropped six games in a row, which puts them nine games behind the Boston Celtics for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Washington (3-21) has the fewest wins in the NBA. The Wizards trail the division-leading Miami Heat by 14.5 games in the Southeast.

Elsewhere in the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks (19-7) have a comfortable lead atop the Atlantic division. New York lost on Friday night to the Chicago Bulls, but still leads the Brooklyn Nets by 5.5 games in the division. With the win, Chicago maintained a one-game advantage in the Central over the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers. Milwaukee and Indiana both won their games on Friday night.

In the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder hold the NBA's best record at 21-5, and a seven-game lead in the Northwest division. The Los Angeles Clippers have a 2.5-game lead in the Pacific division, while the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies are tied atop the Southwest.

The Hoyas will try for a sixth consecutive victory on Saturday at the Verizon Center.

The No. 15 Georgetown Hoyas host the Western Carolina Catamounts on Saturday afternoon. The 8-1 Hoyas, whose lone loss came against No. 1 Indiana, are trying for their sixth straight win. Western Carolina has had an up and down season so far, and is currently 4-6. The two teams have never met before.

Defense has been key to the Hoyas' early success this season. They have allowed an average of just 54 points per game in their first nine contests. Although the Georgetown offense has struggled at times this season, the Hoyas exploded for 89 points in their most recent victory, which came over Longwood on Monday. In that game, the team shot 53.7 percent from the field and sophomore forward Otto Porter scored a career-high 22 points. Porter is currently Georgetown's leading scorer, averaging 13 points per game.

Western Carolina, meanwhile, is led by junior Trey Sumler. The guard averages 16.2 points per game, but in his last three games, Sumler has not scored more than 13.

The Wizards remain uncertain how long Trevor Booker will be out, but recent evidence seems to show that he could be sidelined for a while.

Washington Wizards' power forward Trevor Booker was reportedly in New York on Friday to have his right knee looked at by Dr. David Altchek. According to Craig Stouffer, Altchek is also examining the knee of point guard John Wall.

Booker has not played since injuring his knee against the Indiana Pacers on Nov. 19. At the time, the injury did not seem severe. Following a setback, Booker attempted to return to practice on Monday, Dec. 10, but he was extremely limited. The team's decision to send him to Dr. Altchek may indicate that the injury was more serious than originally suspected. RotoWorld went so far as to call Booker "out indefinitely," until the team says otherwise.

In nine games this season, Booker has averaged 6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. The third-year big man started Washington's first seven games at power forward, but was moved out of the starting lineup on Nov. 17 in favor of Jan Vesely.

RGIII is questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns. If Griffin is unable to play, Kirk Cousins will fill in at QB.

Washington Redskins' quarterback Robert Griffin III is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, according to the team's Twitter feed. Griffin left in the second half of Washington's game last Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens with a sprained right knee. The league's top-rated passer has been able to participate in team practices all week, though many reporters noticed him favoring one leg on Wednesday and Thursday.

Coach Mike Shanahan told the media that Griffin "keeps on improving every day." The Redskins may wait until game time on Sunday to unveil their starting QB, but Shanahan reportedly said that backup Kirk Cousins will know by Saturday night whether or not he is starting. By not announcing a starter, Washington forces Cleveland to prepare for both quarterbacks.

Friday afternoon, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that Cousins had taken all the first team snaps in practice this week, while Griffin had only done individual drills. However, Glazer re-stated Shanahan's contention that RGIII remains a game-time decision.

The Redskins have won four games in a row, and Griffin has been especially impressive during this stretch. The rookie has posted a QBRating over 100 in each of his last four contests, and has only thrown one interception in that time.
