D.C. United plays their first game against the expansion Montreal Impact at RFK Stadium on Wednesday night. The black-and-red are riding a four game unbeaten streak, which has put them in third place in the Eastern Conference behind Sporting KC and the New York Red Bulls.
D.C. won their most recent game against the New England Revolution on April 14, 2-1. The United were down early thanks to a goal by New England's Jose Moreno in the sixth minute. D.C. tied the game in the nineteenth minute thanks to a goal by Maicon Santos, with assists by Dwayne De Rosario and Nick DeLeon. DeLeon assisted with the game winning goal by Chris Pontius in the eighty-second minute to give the United the victory.
The Impact's last game was a 2-1 loss to F.C. Dallas on April 14. Bernardo Corradi scored the first goal for Montreal in the sixty-first minute, but the Impact would allow two goals to Dallas by Blas Perez and Brek Shea and lose. Wednesday's game will be their sixth road game in the last eight games overall.
The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. on Comcast Sports Network Plus.
Here's tonight's starting lineup, which features many changes. Chris Pontius returns to the starting lineup as Dwayne De Rosario's strike partner, while Chris Korb makes an appearance in defense, pushing Brandon McDonald and Robbie Russell together as center-halves. Andy Najar and Branko Boskovic are also new additions to the starting lineup.
