Both D.C. United and the Seattle Sounders have had chances, but neither has been able to find the back of the net as the first half at RFK Stadium has ended in a goalless draw.
United's best chance came in the 23rd minute, when Hamdi Salihi skimmed Nick DeLeon's cross from the left wing off the top of the crossbar. Seattle came back with a chance of their own eight minutes later after Dejan Jakovic was yellow-carded for a very soft foul on Alvaro Fernandez. Brad Evans nearly put United ahead from the ensuing free kick, but couldn't hit the target.
Fredy Montero nearly redirected David Estrada's shot into the net in the 34th minute, but he just missed wide of Joe Willis' left post. Contrary to the protestations of the United defenders, Montero was onside.
