D.C. United vs. New England Revolution: United Center Backs Igniting The Offense, Lead Revolution 2-0 At The Half

Not many would have placed a bet on Brandon McDonald and Dejan Jakovic being the scoring duo at the half. Yet here we are. McDonald scored a flick-on header off a free kick in the 15th minute. Dejan Jakovic scored off a corner right before the half in stoppage time.

United are looking for their third straight win, and a spot atop the Eastern Conference. A two-goal lead over a team that United have struggled with is big at the half. After getting off to a slow start, United maintained most of the possession throughout the half en route to the 2-0 lead.

That said, United did nearly give up a goal in the 38th minute after Saer Sene beat Daniel Woolard to a ball down the right side and beat United keeper Bill Hamid. However, Hamid did enough to deflect it out for a corner.

Branko Boskovic looks to be holding down a spot in the starting lineup after the assist on the free kick to McDonald and his service overall on corners. United will look to continue to shine off set pieces, and maybe add on through the run of play in the second half.
