Behind a goal in the 78th minute from forward Chris Pontius, D.C. United grabbed a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night at PPL Park -- the team's fourth consecutive victory and fifth in their last six games.
Pontiu's left-footed shot came from close range following an assist from Branko Boskovic. D.C. United had several scoring chances over the course of the second half with three shots on goal, including Pontius' score.
The Black-And-Red kept Philadelphia, which amassed 15 shots and controlled the time of possession 56 percent to 45 percent, off the scoreboard thanks in large part to goalkeeper Bill Hamid, who finished with four saves.
Saturday's contest was a bit chippy with a combined five yellow cards -- though no red cards were issued.
