CSN Washington To Air 5 Classic D.C. United Matches This Coming Week

D.C. United won't lace the boots up in anger until June 16, when they resume their MLS schedule against the Philadelphia Union. Considering that the club has only played two U.S. Open Cup games since May 26, a long time has passed with not a lot of soccer.

Luckily, CSN Washington is filling the void by presenting five classic D.C. United rivalry match-ups (Eastern Conference only) in the run-up to Saturday's match against Philadelphia.

More after the jump.

The classic games schedule is as follows:

July 18,1998 vs. Chicago Fire -- Roy Lassiter nets a hat trick in a 4-1 United win. (airs Sunday, June 10 at 7 p.m.)

August 22, 2010 vs. Phialdelphia Union -- A Danny Allsopp brace (yes, United fans, you read that correctly) gives United a 2-0 win in the high point of that lost season. Also notable as the first United game we ever covered in D.C. (airs Monday, June 11 at 7 p.m.)

July 3, 2004 vs. New York/New Jersey Metrostars -- A 6-2 thrashing by United's last MLS Cup winners. (airs Tuesday, June 12 at 7 p.m.)

May 31, 2006 vs. Columbus Crew -- Jaime Moreno scores his 100th MLS goal as United roll, 5-1. (airs Wednesday, June 13 at 7 p.m.

October 1, 2005 vs. New York/New Jersey Metrostars -- Ben Olsen scores two as United win, 4-1. (airs Thursday, June 14 at 7 p.m.)

Needless to say, we love this idea, and we hope that Comcast would at least look into the possibility of rerunning classic Caps and Wizards games in the down periods that often come in summer.
