D.C. United Vs. New York Red Bulls: Blog Reaction To 2-2 Tie

D.C. United might have had a win taken from their grasp in the closing minutes against one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference Wednesday night, but not everybody is sour grapes about their 2-2 draw with the New York Red Bulls.

Martin Shatzer of Black and Red United spoke enthusiastically about the team in the wake of the tie:

There's no reason to wallow about lost points though. The fact is that United went nose-to-nose with the team favored to win the Eastern Conference, and came minutes away from escaping on top. Does anyone feel that D.C. doesn't deserve to be fourth in the standings? That D.C. can't beat any team on any day?

Shatzer was also thrilled with the combination of Dwayne De Rosario and Nick DeLeon, who linked up twice, each both scoring and assisting a goal -- De Rosario notching his 100th in the MLS.

Linking these two players seems entirely appropriate, as they each offer similar skills. They both work hard, they both score, and they can both create goals via assists as well. And after all, DeLeon is only 95 goals behind.
