D.C. United faces off against Chivas USA at 7:00 p.m. Eastern tonight at RFK Memorial Stadium in a game which SB Nation's Black and Red United has described as a "must win" for Washington.
With just over a month left in Major League Soccer's regular season, and with D.C. sitting barely at fourth in the Eastern Conference, United look to earn a win today to better their playoff standings before a cross-country trip to face the Portland Timbers. As of today, D.C. sits just one point above the Houston Dynamo, who currently occupy the conference's fifth playoff spot .
D.C. will not be going into this game with a fully healthy lineup, as United star Dwayne De Rosario is expected to miss the remainder of the MLS schedule with a knee injury he suffered in a World Cup qualifying match as a member of the Canadian national soccer team. This means that United will rely primarily on Chris Pontius and Lionard Pajoy to move the ball against the Chivas defense.
Chivas has some personnel difficulties of their own however, as right back James Riley, the anchor of the squad's defense, was suspended for this match by MLS for a red card he received this week against the Columbus Crew.
Chivas USA is currently in ninth place in the Western Conference.
The match will be televised on CSN and kick off at 7:00 p.m.
