Former U.S. National Team standout and World Cup hopeful Charlie Davies has been training with D.C. United for over a week now, trying to earn a loan to MLS and away from his French club Sochaux as he continues to recover from injuries sustained in a car accident last year.
↵If Davies is trying to make a good first impression, he's certainly done it.
↵While with United in Ft. Lauderdale last week, Davies sored a goal and added an assist in his first game with the club against the Canada U-20 National Team. And then he followed that up with two goals and an assist against the Trinidad And Tobago U-20 National Team yesterday.
↵If we're to use these statistics to forecast Davies' numbers for United this season, assuming the loan deal is completed, then Davies will set MLS records with 51 goals and 24 assists.
↵Of course its also possible that being productive against teenagers doesn't necessarily translate to being productive against professionals when it counts. But you can only beat who you play. Except for Charlie. He can only dominate who he plays.
