Charlie Davies Injury Likely To Sideline D.C. United Striker Vs. Portland Timbers

D.C. United forward Charlie Davies is unlikely to play in the team's road contest against the Portland Timbers due to a right hamstring injury. Davies originally suffered the injury in a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rapids on May 14.

Davies did not practice for D.C. United on Thursday, and while there is an outside chance he could play as a substitute, it does not look good. Via Steven Goff of the Washington Post:

"I am hoping he is about a week away," assistant coach Chad Ashton said. "There's a small chance he could see some minutes over the weekend, but very small."

Davies did not play in D.C. United's exhibition game against Dutch power Ajax last Sunday. He is expected to be fully recovered in time for the June 3 match against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Davies has already scored six goals in nine games since deciding to play for D.C. United just before the start of the MLS season.
