DC United’s newest acquisition, superstar midfielder/forward Dwayne De Rosario, is expected to join the team Thursday morning, and should be available to play the following Saturday against the Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia Union at RFK stadium in Washington, DC.
This is according to Soccer Insider, who tweeted the following on Tuesday:
De Rosario tentatively scheduled to join #dcu on Thu morning, will be available Sat vs Union
The contest should be an excellent test for De Rosario and his new team, as DC United looks to climb the standings. At 4-5-6, they are currently in fourth place in the MLS’s Eastern Conference standings.
The 33-year-old is a five-time MLS all-star who has won four MLS titles in his career. His first two came with San Jose in 2001 and 2003. He then won back-to-back titles with the Houston Dynamo in 2006 and 2007.
DC United gave up midfielder Dax McCarty for De Rosario.
