Postponed D.C. United Vs. Portland Timbers Match Moved To October 19th At 8:00 P.M.

D.C. United announced Monday afternoon that the scheduled home match against the Portland Timbers, which was postponed due to the arrival of Hurricane Irene, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 19th. The match will kick off at 8:00 p.m. and tickets that bear the originally scheduled August 27 date will be honored by the club.

It is not immediately clear whether the rescheduled match will be televised locally on CSN Washington. However, the Washington Capitals are not scheduled to play on the 19th, and with the Wizards season in jeopardy due to the ongoing NBA lockout, there seems to be no obvious obstacle at the moment to CSN Washington picking up the telecast.

The match had been originally scheduled to kick off at 7:30 this past Saturday night, but due to the oncoming storm, the start time was initially moved to 2:00 p.m. before a final decision to postpone the match was made on Friday morning. The newly shuffled schedule means that D.C. United will close the regular season with three home matches in seven days. (October 15 vs. Chicago, the rescheduled match against Portland, and October 22 vs. Sporting Kansas City.)
