D.C. United's Canadian international Dwayne De Rosario has been named the MLS Player of the Month for the month of August by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).
De Rosario made four appearances and three starts in the month of August, recording a total of three goals and two assists in 315 minutes of play. He recorded his first career hat trick in a 3-3 draw against Toronto FC August 6 at RFK Stadium and assisted on two goals in United's 4-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps the following week. Those performances earned De Rosario consecutive MLS Player of the Week awards from the NASR, making him the first D.C. United player to earn the honor in consecutive weeks.
Since arriving in Washington in a June 27 trade from New York Red Bulls, De Rosario has started in eight of United's nine matches and notched six goals and three assists in 759 minutes on the pitch.
