Ben Olsen has made three changes from the starting lineup that defeated Chivas USA 3-0 last Saturday night. Goalkeeper Bill Hamid (right hamstring strain) has failed a late fitness test, so rookie Joe Willis has been slotted in Hamid's usual starting place. Meanwhile, Austin da Luz has been handed his first ever start for United. He'll start on the left side of midfield in place of Santino Quaranta. Finally, Joseph Ngwenya has fully recovered from a concussion and will start up front for the first time since July 16. He'll take the place of the injured Chris Pontius.
Seattle Sounders boss Sigi Schmid has tapped Zach Scott to take the place of the suspended Jhon Kennedy Hurtado in defense, while Brad Evans returns to the starting lineup for the first time since June 18. Those are the only two changes that Schmid has made from the starting lineup that lost 2-1 to Real Salt Lake last Saturday.
