The George Mason Patriots put together another solid defensive performance on Tuesday night en route to a blowout win, their second in as many nights. Mason handled an overmatched Albany team in the second game of the consolation round of the preseason NIT at the Patriot Center. Last night, the Patriots were aided by Brown's woeful shooting from behind the arc and that was once again the case tonight against Albany, as the Great Danes went a miserable 2 for 23 from three point range for a mind boggling 9% from downtown.
GMU was led again by senior Ryan Pearson who's been nothing short of incredible through the first six games of the season. Pearson, averaging 20+ points per game coming into tonight, added another 24 against Albany, shooting 11 of 18 from the floor. In addition to averaging 20 and 10 a game, he's also shooting a staggering 57% from the field in this young season. He's continually had his way with opponents in the lane, and Tuesday was no different.
Helping out Pearson was senior frontcourt mate Mike Morrison, who had his best game of the season. Morrison chipped in with 13 points and 9 boards, combining with Pearson to dominate on the interior.
After cleaning up at home in the NIT consolation games, Mason will now enjoy more than a week off, with the Bucknell Bison visiting the Patriot Center next Wednesday.
