The George Mason Patriots (6-2) visit the Virginia Cavaliers (7-1) on Tuesday night in arguably the toughest matchup of their young season so far. Though they've won their last four games, the Patriots are 0-1 on the road and 2-1 away from Patriot Center overall, making Tuesday's visit to John Paul Jones Arena particularly challenging.
George Mason knocked off the Towson Tigers, 65-53, on Saturday to capture its fourth straight win. Ryan Pearson and Mike Morrison scored 14 points apiece to pace the Patriots, each of whose starters finished in doule figures. Tigers forward Marcus Damas scored 25 points, but George Mason limited his teammates to 28 points on 9-of-34 shooting in keeping Towson winless on the season.
In its most recent outing, Virginia drubbed the Longwood Lancers, 86-53, behind a near-perfect performance from Mike Scott. The senior forward scored 20 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field and 7-of-8 shooting from the foul line; he also contributed nine rebounds, four assists, and just two turnovers in 24 minutes. Sammy Zeglinski added 14 points and four three-pointers to help Virginia improve to 7-1. The Cavaliers' lone loss this season came against the TCU Horned Frogs by a 57-55 final.
