George Mason Vs. Virginia: Patriots Lose By Twenty In Charlottesville

The George Mason Patriots lost their third game of the season on Tuesday night, falling by a 68-48 margin against the Virginia Cavaliers. UVA is expected to be much improved this season, and they now stand at 8-1 and are undefeated at John Paul Jones Arena.

Tony Bennett's teams tend to slow the game down, and rarely do opponents light it up against Bennett-coached teams. But the Patriots especially struggled against UVA, scoring only 48 points and failing to have a single player reach double digits for the first time this season. The twenty point loss is also their worst of the year. GMU turned it over twenty times and hit only two threes on the evening. Ryan Pearson was just four of ten on the evening, as he failed to hit double digits for the first time this year.

Sharpshooter Sammy Zeglinski led the Cavaliers, finishing with 18 points buoyed by his four three pointers. Mason continues its tour around the state of Virginia on Saturday, when they head to Radford.
