2011 NCAA Tournament: George Mason Plays Villanova, Who Has Lost 5-Straight Games

The Big East didn't fare so well in the NCAA Tournament in 2010. Will 2011 be any better? The George Mason Patriots sure hope not.

The Patriots earned a No. 8 seed for the 2011 NCAA Tournament, and will face the Villanova Wildcats in the first round of the East region in the NCAA Tournament bracket.

These two teams have been heading in different directions in the recent months. While George Mason had won 16-straight games prior to falling to the Va. Commonwealth Rams in the Semifinals of the CAA Tournament, Villanova has lost five straight games heading into the NCAA Tournament, and seven of their last nine. They fell by one-point to the South Florida Bulls in the first round of the Big East Tournament, but lost their three prior games by more than 10 points.

The Wildcats have three players whose scoring average is in double-digits. Corey Fisher averages 15.4 points per game, Corey Stokes 15.0, and Maalik Wayns 14.0.
