BracketBusters 2012: George Mason To Face Lamar At Home On February 18

George Mason will square off against Lamar in the 2012 BracketBusters on Saturday, February 18.

Despite being in command of a traditionally-powerful Colonial Athletic Association at the midway point of the season, George Mason will not be playing in a high-level matchup in the 2012 BracketBusters schedule. Instead, the Patriots will draw Lamar, who is currently 13-8 and in sixth place in the Southland Conference, according to Steven Goff of the Washington Post. The game will take place in Fairfax at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 18.

The Patriots are currently 18-5 and 10-1 in the CAA, one game ahead of VCU, Drexel and Old Dominion. However, they only have an RPI of 102, due to the bottom of the CAA being worse than usual this year. Lamar, on the other hand, has an RPI of 116, which explains why they drew this matchup despite their poor conference record.

The full 2012 BracketBusters schedule will be announced at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. By then, we will know this matchup is official.
