The George Mason Patriots advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 Paradise Jam Tournament with a 52-49 victory over the Mercer Bears. They will now face the winner of Illinois-Chicago/New Mexico on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. Eastern. That game will be televised by the CBS Sports Network
Forward Johnny Williams, who redshirted last year, led George Mason with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Sherrod Wright also added 14 points. Through three games, Wright leads the team with an average of 15 points per game. With the win, George Mason moves to 2-1 on the season.
On the other side of the ball, Mercer's top scorer was senior guard Travis Smith, who had 17 points. Forward Jakob Gollon contributed eight points in the losing effort.
