Drexel Vs. Old Dominion Recap: Dragons Advance To CAA Championship Game

The Drexel Dragons cruised into the Colonial Athletic Association championship game with a 68-51 win over Old Dominion. The Monarchs are not shy to launch from three-point range, and they got by yesterday with nearly 90 points but it was a different story on Sunday. ODU shot just 17 percent from behind the arc and only 33 percent from the floor. Kent Bazemore, who dominated Delaware in the quarterfinals, was a woeful six of 20 from the floor and put up a bagel from downtown.

Bruiser Flint's team continued its run to the dance with suffocating defense. The Dragons were cold from outside as well, hitting just 35 percent which included a one for seven performance from conference player of the year runner-up Frantz Massenat. The sophomore from Jersey was well behind Ryan Pearson in the voting, but he put up twenty against ODU in an off-day from the field. Damion Lee picked up some of the slack for Drexel, hitting three three-pointers from outside and finishing with 17 points.

Drexel will now face the winner of the VCU and George Mason grudge match in the title game on Monday night in Richmond.
