George Washington Vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore: Colonials Begin 2011-12 Season At Home

George Washington begins a season with high expectations at home against Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Much is expected from George Washington basketball in 2011-12, given all the returning talent and the presence of new coach Mike Lonergan. On Friday, the Colonials will begin their quest to live up to those expectations when they open their season at home against Maryland-Eastern Shore at 7 p.m.

George Washington returns most of its key players from a team that rallied to win 10 Atlantic 10 games after a slow start. An upset loss to St. Joseph's in the Atlantic 10 prevented the team from reaching the postseason, but the Colonials still played far better than expected after a poor start to the season. Now, all the key players return, and the team also welcomes Lasan Kromah back from injury.

Maryland-Eastern Shore finished 9-22 last year in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. They were picked to finish 12th in the 13-team conference.

The game will be broadcasted on the radio on 1050 a.m. in the D.C. area.
