George Washington Vs. Cal: Colonials Look For Upset By The Bay

George Washington travels cross-country for a tough game against No. 24 Cal in Berkeley.

Fresh off an easy win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Friday, George Washington will face a much stiffer test when they face No. 24 California on the road on Sunday night in the first of four games in the Progressive CBE Classic. The game will begin at 9:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcasted on ESPNU.

George Washington had little trouble against overmatched UMES, but Cal will offer a much stiffer test. Led by first-team all Pac-10 guard Jorge Gutierrez, the Golden Bears return nine players from last year's squad, which finished fourth in the conference. The Golden Bears won their season opener on Friday, defeating UC-Irvine, 77-56. Mike Montgomery's squad will also be playing in its home city, making the task even tougher for Mike Lonergan and company.

For George Washington to win, it will need big performances guard Tony Taylor, who scored 20 points against UMES.
