The George Washington Colonials are fighting for their Atlantic-10 tournament chances Wednesday night as they travel to Hilton Arena to visit the Charlotte 49ers. The Colonials currently stand twelfth out of 12 teams that participate in the Atlantic-10 tournament, two games ahead of thirteenth place Fordham with four games remaining in the season.
In the first matchup between these two teams, the Colonials won 60-52 thanks to 19 points by sophomore forward Nemanja Mikic. The Colonials ended that game on a 12-3 run after the game was tied at 45 in the second half.
The 49ers in that game were led by Chris Braswell with 17 points and got 14 points off the bench by Jamar Briscoe. But the 49ers allowed too many free opportunities with George Washington shooting 34 free throws to Charlotte's 9. If the Colonials can stay aggressive and get some easy opportunities, they should be able to defeat Charlotte and move one step closer to participating in the Atlantic 10 tournament.
