The George Washington Colonials (10-19, 5-10 Atlantic 10) conclude their regular season conference play with a trip to Dayton to take on the Flyers (18-11, 8-7) in a noon tipoff Saturday. The Colonials have not won a game at the University of Dayton Arena since February 26, 2005, and that victory only occurred after a miracle half-court shot from Carl Elliott.
George Washington is coming off a hardfought battle with La Salle on Wednesday. Despite a late rally, the Colonials fell 60-56 on Senior Day. Dayton also played Wednesday, losing to Richmond 82-71, snapping a modest two-game winning streak.
The good news for George Washington is they have clinched a spot in the 2012 Atlantic 10 conference tournament, regardless of the outcome of the matchup with Dayton. The Colonials will be either the No. 11 seed or No. 12 seed, depending on the outcome of Charlotte's game against Xavier. The first round of the A-10 tournament will be played on campus sites on Tuesday, March 6.
The Colonials vs. Flyers game begins at 12 noon EST, and can be seen on CBS Sports Network. Dave Ryan and Pete Gillen have the call.
