The George Washington University Colonials won't have long to recover from Saturday's 75-59 loss to Dayton. In fact, if head coach Mike Lonergan were so inclined, they might even want to extend their trip west.
The Colonials, who finished the regular season with a record of 10-20 (5-11 Atlantic-10), are the No. 11 seed in next week's Atlantic-10 Tournament. Their first game, next Tuesday, will be a return to the University of Dayton Arena to face the sixth-seeded Flyers, who finished their season with a record of 19-11 (9-7 Atlantic-10). Tip-off time has yet to be determined.
If George Washington manages to defeat Dayton, they would advance to a quarterfinal matchup against No.3 seed Xavier (19-11, 10-6 Atlantic 10). That game is scheduled for Friday, March 9 at approximately 9:00 p.m. at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
Other games in Tuesday's first round (games at campus sites, all times TBD):
No. 10 Richmond (16-15, 7-9 A-10) at No. 7 La Salle (20-11, 9-7 A-10)
No. 12 Charlotte (13-16, 5-11 A-10) at No. 5 St. Joseph's (19-12, 9-7 A-10)
No. 9 Duquesne (16-14, 7-9 A-10) at No. Massachusetts (19-10, 9-7 A-10).
