Mike Lonergan's inaugural season at George Washington came to and end on Tuesday night, as his Colonials bowed out in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament with a 67-50 loss to the Dayton Flyers. The Flyers are squarely on the bubble, battling for their tournament lives and the Colonials were playing in a notoriously tough road environment.
GW was ice cold from outside all evening, hitting just three of 14 from behind the arc. David Pellom led all scorers with 18 points off the bench, but Lonergan's go-to-guys Lasan Kromah and Tony Taylor simply could not get anything going offensively. Taylor was just three of 11 from the floor and finished with just six points in his final game for the Colonials. The Flyers shot better than 50 percent from the floor which was more than enough with the defensive effort they put on GW.
The Colonials finish the season at 10-21 while the Flyers will move on to face arch rival Xavier in Atlantic City.
