Coastal Carolina Vs. Georgetown: Hoyas Rain Three-Pointers In 80-61 Win

Coastal Carolina challenged Georgetown for a half. Then, the Hoyas decided to continue their hot shooting. The end result was an 80-61 win in the first round of the Charleston Classic.

Georgetown was extremely perimeter-oriented in the game, giving a clue to how they might be all season. The Hoyas attempted 30 three-pointers, making 14 for an outstanding 46.7 percent. Over half of their 57 shot attempts came from beyond the arc, and the Hoyas only took five free throws.

Jason Clark led the way for the Hoyas with 22 points, including 5-7 from downtown. Austin Freeman added 20 points, including 4-6 from downtown. Kierre Greenwood led Coastal Carolina with 16 points. Overall, Coastal Carolina did some good things offensively, shooting 47 percent and getting 21 free-throws. They also only committed 13 turnovers. Clearly, Georgetown needs to improve their defense going forward.

Julian Vaughn had 11 points, seven rebounds and five blocks in his first game back from an illness that landed him in the hospital earlier in the week.
