NCAA Basketball Rankings: Georgetown Falls To 15th After Loss To Temple

Clearly, one loss in December makes a big difference in the AP Top 25 Poll. Despite racing through the rest of their very difficult schedule unscathed, the Georgetown Hoyas fell from ninth to 15th in the latest AP Top 25 Poll after a three-point loss on the road to Temple on Thursday.

I guess this means AP Poll voters are unforgiving. Maybe they forgot that Georgetown has already won at Missouri, at Old Dominion and on a neutral court against North Carolina State. Maybe they forgot that Temple now has won 11 straight games at home. Maybe they forgot that Georgetown was one play away from actually winning the game, assuming Hollis Thompson makes the right decision. Maybe they forgot that Temple was one of the teams that received votes in the Top 25. Regardless, a six-spot drop in the polls seems overly harsh.

Duke remains on top unanimously, followed by Ohio State, Kansas, Connecticut and Syracuse. Here is the full list, via SBNation.com.
