The Georgetown Hoyas may finally have their confidence back, as they have defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 74-62 on the road to make them 2-4 in the Big East.
John Thompson III's club responded on the road with solid contributions from up and down the roster. The Hoyas leading scorer was Austin Freeman, who had 25 points with 9 rebounds. Two other Hoyas were in double figures as well, with Chris Wright scoring 15 and Jason Clark getting 13 points.
There were several tense moments in the game for the Hoyas, as Rutgers looked to make the game closer, particularly in the second half. But each time the Scarlet Knights made a run, the Hoyas were there to respond. And because they played with much better poise throughout the game than in previous contests, they were able to close out the game and finish with the W.
The Hoyas will travel to Seton Hall on Tuesday to take on the Pirates, with a chance to make it two in a row in conference play.
