NCAA Basketball Rankings: Georgetown Rises Eight Spots To No. 13 In AP Top 25 Poll

No team rose more in this week's AP Top 25 poll than the Georgetown Hoyas. Spearheaded by two huge wins -- a blowout victory over St. John's and a three-point win over Villanova -- the Hoyas climbed all the way from No. 21 to No. 13 in this week's AP Top 25 Poll.

The Hoyas were in danger of slipping out of the rankings entirely, but righted the ship in a big way this week. First, they defeated St. John's 77-52 on Wednesday, a win that carried extra significance when the Red Storm beat then No. 3 Duke 93-78 on Sunday. Then, they went on the road to Villanova and beat the then-No. 8 Wildcats 69-66. Those two wins were enough for Georgetown to make a major leap in the standings.

The Hoyas are still behind four Big East teams in the rankings. Pittsburgh is at No. 4, Connecticut is at No. 6, Notre Dame is at No. 9 and Villanova is at No. 12, despite the loss to Georgetown. Three other Big East teams are in the top 25, including Louisville, Georgetown's opponent on Monday, at No. 15, Syracuse, which took a tumble to No. 17 after a bad week, and West Virginia, who entered the poll at No. 25.
