College Basketball Rankings: Ken Pomeroy Likes Maryland More Than Most

College basketball fans everywhere are flocking to popular college hoops stats site KenPom.com because it has released its first college basketball rankings for 2012. These include a projected record and much, much more. It comes as a surprise to us that the rankings seem to like Maryland a good deal. The Terps are ranked No. 47 and projected to go 17-11 with an 8-8 ACC record.

This is all despite losing Jordan Williams to the NBA draft, Pe'Shon Howard to injury and having only eight scholarship players, one of which is Alex Len, who is suspended for 10 games. Hopefully KenPom is right.

As for the other local teams, here is where KenPom has them:

  • Georgetown: No. 48, 16-11 overall, 9-9 in Big East.
  • George Mason: No. 56, 19-8 overall, 13-5 in CAA.
