American Vs. Georgetown: Hoyas Look For Seventh Straight Win As They Host Eagles

The Georgetown Hoyas welcome the American University Eagles to the Verizon Center Saturday, with the Hoyas seeking their seventh win a row overall, and eighth in a row against American.

John Thompson III and his Georgetown Hoyas (8-1) return to action for the first time in a week when they face the American University Eagles (8-3) at noon Saturday. The Hoyas, 5-0 at home, played one week ago at the Verizon Center, defetaing Howard 62-48.

16th ranked Georgetow is seeking it's seventh win a row overall, and eighth in a row against American. The Hoyas lead the all-time series between the two schools 43-8, winning the most recent matchup in 2009 by the score of 73-46.

Despite the 14 point margin of victory, the Hoyas did not play well against Howard, shooting just 32.7 percent for the game, and almost blew a 17-0 lead. American is coming off a 66-61 loss to St. Francis (Pa.) that ended the Eagles' eight-game winning streak, their longest since winning 13 straight in 2008-09.
