Two of the top 12 teams in the nation with two of the top players in the nation are off to a great start in Big East action tonight.
The Georgetown Hoyas took a lead early in the contest with some hard work inside the paint, but the Connecticut Huskies came back late in the first half to bring their home fans at the XL Center to their feet after a Kemba Walker layup cut the Hoyas' lead to one point. After Jeremy Lamb and Chris Wright traded three-pointers, the whistle blew with Georgetown on top 37-36 at the end of the first 20 minutes.
Hoyas star Austin Freeman is off to a decent start with six points in the first half. Georgetown is 10-1 this season when Freeman scores 20 points or more, so they'll be looking for him to step up in the second half. Jason Clark is the leading scorer for the Hoyas at the break with 11 points.
Connecticut's own respective Player of the Year candidate Walker has made a bigger impact than Freeman so far. He has 10 points and six of his team's nine assists.
