Big East Tournament 2011: UConn Now Leads Pitt 61-60 In Back And Forth Second Half

If this is the way that the rest of the 2011 Big East Tournament is going to play out, I think we're going to be in for a real treat. Both teams are playing hard in the second half and the scoring has picked up considerably. UConn now leads Pitt 61-60 with 8:26 left in the game.

In the first few minutes of the second half, it looked like Pitt was going to re-establish their dominance. They took a quick seven point lead with some continued hot shooting by Ashton Gibbs. But UConn has been able to respond by establishing Alex Oriakhi in the post, which is a sharp departure from their first half game plan of trying to get out in transition.Contributions from Shabazz Napier and Jeremy Lamb are also keeping UConn right in the thick of this one.

UConn is still getting out on the break, particularly following Pitt turnovers. They now have 15 points off Pitt's nine turnovers, which is an excellent percentage. The pace has picked up in the second half, and we should be in for a pretty exciting finish. Keep it locked.
