2011 NCAA Tournament Bracket, West Region: Duke Earns No. 1 Seed

The NCAA 2011 bracket has been announced on the Selection Sunday show, and Duke has earned the No. 1 seed in the West region. The Blue Devils and won the ACC Tournament over North Carolina on Sunday.

The Blue Devils will play No. 16 seed Hampton. The Pirates won the MEAC Tournament.

Here are the rest of the West Region matchups:

  • San Diego State earned the No. 2 seed after winning the Mountain West Conference Tournament, and will play No. 15 seed Northern Colorado in the first round. The Bears won the Big Sky Tournament.
  • Connecticut earned the No. 3 seed after winning the Big East Tournament. The Huskies will play No. 14 seed Bucknell in the first round. The Bison won the Patriot League Tournament
  • Texas will be the No. 4 seed  as an at-large. The Longhorns play No. 13 seed Oakland in the first round. The Golden Grizzlies won the Summit League Tournament.
  • Arizona will be the No. 5 seed  as an at-large. The Wildcats will play No. 12 seed Memphis. The Tigers won the Conference USA Tournament.
  • Cincinnati will be the No. 6 seed as an at-large. The Bearcats play No. 11 seed Missouri in the first round. The Tigers earned an at-large bid. 
  • Temple will be the No. 7 seed as an at-large. The Owls play No. 10 seed Penn State in the first round. The Nittany Lions earned an at-large bid. 
  • Michigan will be the No. 8 seed as an at-large. The Wolverines play No. 9 seed Tennessee in the first round. The Volunteers earned an at-large bid.
