Georgetown Basketball faces the UConn Huskies in Madison Square Garden as the 2011 Big East Tournament rolls on. The game starts at Noon and can be seen on ESPN.
The biggest factor in this game will be Georgetown's ability to defend Kemba Walker off the dribble. Walker exploded for 19 points in the second half of the Huskies' victory over DePaul yesterday. When he is determined to, Walker can get to the rim at will. It doesn't help that Georgetown still doesn't have Chris Wright, who is their best defender from the point guard position.
For Georgetown to be successful, Austin Freeman will probably have to have a big day. There isn't really anyone on UConn that can match Freeman physically, and he will need to bully the young UConn perimeter players. Without Wright to get him the ball in his spots, we'll probably see a lot more isolation plays run for Freeman, and he needs to take advantage of what should be a mismatch no matter who is guarding him.
UConn won the only game between these two teams this year, and that was when Georgetown had Chris Wright. This should be a tough one for the Hoyas, as UConn and Kemba Walker are probably the worst possible matchup for a team without their point guard. We'll keep you updated in this stream as the game unfolds.
