Georgetown's Hollis Thompson Pulls Out Of 2011 NBA Draft, Returns For Junior Season

Georgetown basketball forward Hollis Thompson has elected to pull out of the NBA Draft and return for his junior season, according to a report by Tarik El-Bashir of the Washington Post. The move isn't a huge surprise, given that Thompson wasn't on most 2011 NBA Draft boards. But as recently as several hours ago, Thompson's status was up in the air leading up to the 11:59 p.m. deadline on May 8.

Thompson's return is a boon to a Georgetown team that was already losing seniors Austin Freeman, Chris Wright and Julian Vaughn, as well as backups Vee Sanford and Jerrelle Benimon to transfer. Thompson will likely be a featured player next season, along with guard Jason Clark. Thompson averaged 8.6 points and 4.4 rebounds as a reserve last season, as he lost his starting spot to Nate Lubick. He would probably start at small forward next season along with Lubick.
