The Georgetown Hoyas are one of eight teams who will be participating in the 2011 Maui Invitational next November, and their projected first-round matchup is not an easy one. Gary Parrish of CBS Sports has reported the first-round pairings, and the Hoyas will be matched up against traditional power Kansas.
The Jayhawks have suffered some key losses, including big men Marcus and Markieff Morris as well as guard Josh Selby, but they're still incredibly talented. Georgetown, on the other hand, suffered arguably even bigger losses with the graduation of Austin Freeman and Chris Wright. This will be an incredibly challenging early test for the young Hoyas, especially new stars Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson.
The other first-round matchups pit Memphis against Michigan, UCLA against Chaminade and Duke against Tennessee. Georgetown would play three games regardless of what happens against Kansas.
