A few days ago, Mike Wise of the Washington Post wrote about former Georgetown coach John Thompson Jr. and how the D.C. legend was very nearly on American Airlines Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. he was scheduled to ride on that plane, but a producer named Danny Schwartz talked him into going a day later.
↵Now, audio has surfaced of that radio appearance on Jim Rome's show, and there's an amazing moment at the 9:20 mark where Schwartz and Thompson speak for the first time since. It's really a remarkable moment and a constant reminder of how fortunes plays such an amazing role in everyone's lives.
↵↵↵"Let me tell you something, if you’re ever in DC, you look me up," Thompson said to Swartz. "I was antagonistic in those days, and how you handle it saved my life. And I appreciate that."
