The No. 15 Georgetown Hoyas host the Western Carolina Catamounts on Saturday afternoon. The 8-1 Hoyas, whose lone loss came against No. 1 Indiana, are trying for their sixth straight win. Western Carolina has had an up and down season so far, and is currently 4-6. The two teams have never met before.
Defense has been key to the Hoyas' early success this season. They have allowed an average of just 54 points per game in their first nine contests. Although the Georgetown offense has struggled at times this season, the Hoyas exploded for 89 points in their most recent victory, which came over Longwood on Monday. In that game, the team shot 53.7 percent from the field and sophomore forward Otto Porter scored a career-high 22 points. Porter is currently Georgetown's leading scorer, averaging 13 points per game.
Western Carolina, meanwhile, is led by junior Trey Sumler. The guard averages 16.2 points per game, but in his last three games, Sumler has not scored more than 13.
