The Virginia Tech Hokies were shocked on their home floor by the Georgia Southern Eagles, losing 78-73 on Saturday to fall to 8-2 on the season.
The Hokies fell down by eight points at halftime, and were unable to make up the deficit in the second half despite getting 28 points out of guard Erick Green. All five of Georgia Southern's starters reached double figures in scoring, with guard C.J. Reed's 22 points pacing the team.
Elsewhere, the No. 15 Georgetown Hoyas cruised past the Western Carolina Catamounts, 81-68. Forward Greg Whittington scored 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while shooting 8-for-12 from the floor, including hitting 3-of-5 three-point attempts. Jabril Trawick pitched in 14 points in 23 minutes off the bench.
