NCAA Bracket 2012: VCU To Play Wichita State In First Game

After landing a No. 12 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the VCU Rams will be playing No. 5-seeded Wichita State to kick things off in the first round. The Rams locked up an automatic berth on Monday with a CAA Tournament Championship win over Drexel.

VCU finished the season with a 28-6 record overall and a 15-3 record in the CAA. With more than ten days of rest, the Rams will now begin their postseason march to return to the Final Four against the Shockers.

VCU will face a team that entered the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference being touted as perhaps "this year's VCU". A loss to Illinois State in the MVC Tournament bumped the Shockers a bit off the radar, but this team is extremely strong, ranking near the Top 10 in the nation in Ken Pomeroy's efficiency ratings.
