College basketball fans in and around the nation's capitol will have the chance to see some of the top teams and games in the country next spring up close and personal. According to the Sports Business Journal, Washington will host the East Regional of the 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

Games will take place at the Verizon Center. Georgetown University is designated as the hosting school.

Washington is no stranger to the Big Dance. This will be the sixth time since 1998 that the NCAA Tournament has unfolded in Washington.

Arlington, Texas; Indianapolis and Los Angeles will host the other regionals. Atlanta will host the Final Four.

The NCAA cited Washington's rich history with the tournament in its decision to locate the East Regional of the 75th tournament.

Here's NCAA executive vice president Mark Lewis, from the official announcement:

"The decision to delay the announcement of the East Regional site was made because the committee wanted to explore several options. In the end, we think celebrating 75 years of one of the country's favorite sporting events in our nation's capital and a great basketball city is fitting."
