It didn't take long for the Maryland Terrapins to realize they were playing a much better team than anyone they have faced in the ACC thus far. The Miami Hurricanes got a big 53-yard catch from Travis Benjamin to get deep into Maryland territory, and two plays later, redshirt freshman running back Lamar Miller punched the ball in from eight yards out to give Miami the lead. The Hurricanes botched the extra point snap, so they lead 6-0.
Miami had been moving the ball fairly well on the ground, which set up Benjamin's big catch. The Terps' coverage was a little late, and that was all backup quarterback Stephen Morris needed.
Maryland's offense thus far has been stuck in neutral. Quarterback Danny O'Brien has just completed one of his six passes, and Maryland receivers have already dropped a couple easy passes. The Terps got a break on their last possession when Miami was called for a roughing the punter penalty, but they were not able to take advantage. They will need to pick it up now as they take the ball from their own 25-yard line.
