Maryland needed a fast start to keep up with the Virginia Tech Hokies, but unfortunately for them, they found themselves on the receiving end.
Virginia Tech, led by Erick Green's 14 points, jumped out to a 12-0 lead early and now hold a 40-29 advantage at halftime.
Malcolm Delaney has eight points for the Hokies and Manny Atkins has six points off of the bench. Maryland is led by Adrian Bowie's 10 points off of the bench. Sean Mosley, Jordan Williams and Cliff Tucker have combined for just eight points.
The Terps would cut the 12-0 deficit to 17-13, but would not get closer than eight for the rest of the half. Maryland is shooting 42.9 percent from the floor, but Virginia Tech is shooting 51.6 percent, including 5-8 from beyond the arc.
