I wanted Mike Leach to be the next Maryland football coach, because I thought he was great at Texas Tech and would give the program the new energy they had been seeking. Instead, Maryland chose UCONN's Randy Edsall, a decent choice that I'm starting to get behind. I've moved from the denial stage and into the acceptance stage.
↵However, it looks like one person has yet to move forward. That person? Mike Leach. In an interview with the AP, Leach said that he felt he was exactly what athletic director Kevin Anderson wanted.
↵↵↵↵↵"They said they wanted offense and I have the ability to do that," Leach said. "They said they wanted to sell seats. I know we did that (at Texas Tech). They said they wanted to raise money. I know we did that at an exponentially higher fashion (at Texas Tech).

These are all true statements, but the really telling part is at the bottom of the article. Leach, of course, has pending lawsuits against Texas Tech for wrongful termination and against ESPN for libel, and he claims that he doesn't think those are preventing him from getting another coaching job. At the same time, he also admitted that neither Pittsburgh nor Connecticut, Edsall's former school, has reached out to him to be their next coach. So, yeah, it stands to reason that the lawsuits may have something to do with that.
