Andrew Gonnella left the Terrapins last game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets with a pretty nasty knee injury and will be out for the year. But that won't keep Gonnella from being around the team and helping out however he can. He has always been one of the biggest leaders on the team but now he has to find different ways to make an impact, according to Patrick Stevens of the Washington Times.
“It’s just kind of who I am,” said Gonnella, who wore a brace on his left knee and spoke with reporters as crutches draped the seat next to him. “I’m not going to waste time crying, you know? It’s broken. It’s not going to fix itself tomorrow.”
Gonnella started off as a walk-on, earned a scholarship, then became a Captain on the team his Senior year. He is one of the guys you root for to succeed, so to see his career end this way is pretty heart breaking. But it is good that he is keeping his spirits up and trying to have a positive impact on the team.
