The banged-up Maryland defense doesn't appear to have gotten much healthier in a week. Not only is leading tackler Demetrius Hartsfield listed as out for the Terps' game against No. 8 Clemson on Saturday night, but defensive star Kenny Tate probably won't play either. Tate, who plays the STAR linebacker position in coach Randy Edsall's scheme, was listed as doubtful on the official Maryland injury report on Thursday.
Tate didn't play against Georgia Tech last Saturday, and it appears his injury has not healed much since then. It remains unclear exactly what is bothering him, as the Terps do not release the specific injuries of anyone on the injury report. Tate had 90 tackles last season as a safety and has 20 solo tackles this year in limited action as a linebacker.
In addition, linebacker Darin Drakeford is listed as questionable with an injury of his own. A full list of players sidelined for the game can be found here.
