College Football Rankings Week 8: Clemson, Virginia Tech Represent ACC In Top 15

After a comeback shootout win against Maryland, Clemson continues to represent the ACC in the top ten.

The Week 8 USA Today Coaches poll is out, and ACC representation in the Top 25 is sparse. Clemson continues to carry the conference flag, after a come-from-behind win in a shootout against Maryland at Byrd Stadium. Clemson is tied for 8th with the Oregon Ducks, who beat Arizona State late last night in Eugene without starting quarterback Darron Thomas, in addition to LaMichael James. The Tigers looked to be on the ropes at halftime in College Park, but Sammy Watkins and Tajh Boyd led an impressive second half comeback, putting up 56 points on Randy Edsall and the Terps. They will look to continue their undefeated season at home next week, when they host a North Carolina team coming of a home loss to Miami.

After a win in Winston Salem against Wake Forest, the Virginia Tech Hokies jumped back into the Top 15 after a two week absence. The Hokies rode a 21-0 second quarter to blow out the Demon Deacons, who were previously undefeated in conference play.

Rounding out the ranked ACC teams is Georgia Tech, who suffered their first loss of the season yesterday at the hands of the Virginia Cavaliers. The UVA student body rushed the field and Paul Johnson's team tumbled down the polls, falling from 12th to 17th.
